Bartlett offers seminar on LAP-BAND System

JUNEAU - Dr. Pamela Gruchacz, surgeon with the Bartlett Surgery and Specialty Clinic, will be holding a free seminar to explain about weight-loss options, including the LAP-BAND AP system. The seminar will be held Saturday, Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Robert F. Valliant Center Classroom 204A on the Bartlett Regional Hospital Campus.

The LAP-BAND System is the first FDA-approved adjustable gastric band for use in weight reduction. It was approved for use for severely obese adults with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or more or for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one severe obesity-related health condition, such as Type 2 diabetes, hypertension or asthma.

Used in more than 300,000 procedures worldwide, the simple reversible surgically implanted device has safely helped many severely obese adult patients achieve and maintain long-term weight loss.
