LAP-BAND® surgery is a safe and effective weight loss procedure that is ideal for patients who may face a higher risk of obesity.
During LAP-BAND® surgery, silicon and plastic band is covered round the top part of the stomach to conceive a little stomach pouch. The method is generally presented laparoscopically. Unlike in gastric bypass surgery, the top part of the stomach continues attached to the smaller, bigger part of the stomach through a little outlet conceived by the band. Food passes through the outlet slowly.
